Welcome to Fall 1980

With Fall right around the corner and summer finally ending, yes I said finally, I can not wait to go shopping for my new Fall clothes. This means I have to start cleaning out my closet and make room for my new items! However, I feel that with this season coming many of you will be asking, "What's hot and what's NOT?" Well, lately I have been inspired to re-create my look to fit a more unique style. For instance, this fall I will try my best to enforce more 80's style to my wardrobe. Check out some ideas I have in mind:

Harem Pants: Hot or Not?

Finally, your question has been addressed! We've recently received an e-mail asking what our opinion on Harem pants was. Are they hot or are they not? and how to wear them. First, let me start off by shedding a little insight on these crazy pants! The "Harem Pant" also known as "Parachute Pants" and most famously "Hammer Pants" due to the increased popularity in the late 80's made by MC Hammer, are baggy long pants which are tapered at the ankle with side flaps and an elastic waist. The legs are fitted from the knee down while the crotch area is baggy as if it were cut to be a skirt. They can be very large with a spacious and roomy fit. The Summer 09' staple have replaced your everyday pair of slacks; adding style, comfort and a bit of funk!

Personally, I love these pants! I can't get enough of them. Even though every time I wear them to work I get loads of criticism and jokes thrown at me with names like "MC Hammer or My Grandma" I continue to wear them proud! Now just like any other piece of clothing, it's all about confidence! Since these are more than what you usually bargain for, they do take some getting used to. But trust me- once you put these on…you won't want to take them off! I usually wear them dressed up for work, pairing my black ones with a floral tank top, a grey blazer and wedges, or with a funky graphic belly top which stops right where the pants start on my waist. If your looking for something more casual, I'd try a beige colour pant (H&M) with a white v-neck tucked in to see how high the waist is, layered with a denim button up thrown on top and a brown flat to finish it off. However whether your looking to wear them in your workplace, for a night out or even just for everyday...their yours to make!
Heres a couple of examples of Me, Gaby & a couple of celebs and how we wear our Hammer Pants!

Hopefully I've made it possible for you to embrace these daring pants and you too can make them apart of your closet!

Show off Some Sexuality Through Clothing

Item:
Cutaway/ Ripped Clothing

Color:
Black remains classic but any color dress/top paired with your favorite shoes should do the job right!

Inspiration:
Many designers seem to compare music with fashion and most feel inspired at their work when listening or watching music videos. For instance, Lady Gaga and Rihanna never seem to fail when appearing at award shows or filming a video.

Reason/Purpose:
Cutaway trend has been introduced to help embrace the woman's body and show off her curves in a very high fashion level. It is considered sexual or sensual fashion.

Check out these Bebe dresses I found which I think is drop down gorgeous! Check out the prices too ;)

Bebe
Cutout Side Sweater Dress $109.00

The House of Dior

"What type of clothing did Christian Dior design?"

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

The answer is Couture !

To the few who voted for high fashion I am sorry to inform you but the correct answer to our poll question was couture. As part of the House of Dior, Christian Dior launched the haute couture empire in 1946 which can be described as high fashion and ready to wear garments. Common competitors to the House of Dior include: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Versace and Prada.

Fashion lovers all over the world must know the difference between a couture line and high fashion. It is a common mistake most people are not aware of. However, most of Christian Diors collections can be seen on red carpets and award shows. Please keep in mind Christian Dior was the first designer to embrace and recreate woman's clothing back in 1947 when he debut his spring/summer collection and titled it, "The New Look".

Head over to our poll section and vote for your answer to, "What item made Gucci famous worldwide?"
